Was het gistermiddag nog 21 graden, vanochtend hoor ik getik op het raam. Een blik naar buiten laat hagel zien! Ik kleed me dus maar dik aan om Cosmo uit te laten, want het is maar net om het vriespunt. Wat een verschil opeens in temperatuur!

Het heeft ook flink gewaaid vannacht, want onze boom heeft nog heel wat blad, maar een paar andere in de cul de sac zijn nu kaal. We lopen dan ook over een tapijt van knalgele en rode blaadjes, wat ook wel zijn charme heeft. Alleen wordt de natuur dus wel langzamerhand steeds kaler, helaas, het valt niet tegen te gaan.
Gelukkig duurt de hagel niet lang en als ik naar de sportschool rijd komt de zon alweer te voorschijn. Ik doe een uur cardio op twee verschillende crosstrainers en als ik buiten kom is er zelfs geen wolkje meer aan de lucht. Op de temperatuur heeft dat helaas nauwelijks effect, dus rillend neem ik Cosmo mee voor zijn langere wandeling.
Dit weer maakt dat ik ontzettende zin krijg in comfort food. Ik haal een Japanese pan noodles gerecht met garnalen bij Noodles & Company. Het smaakt heerlijk en ik kijk ondertussen America's Next Top Model. Volgt iemand hier het huidige seizoen? Ik vind het leuk dat het college studenten zijn en ben benieuwd wie gaat winnen.
Saskia komt thuis en wil eigenlijk de van weer meenemen. Ik heb echter een kappersafspraak en vind het ook niet nodig dat zij er iedere middag met mijn van vandoor gaat. Dat klinkt natuurlijk niet fijn in de tieneroren, maar het blijft wel mijn van en voor haar een gunst van mij om erin te mogen rijden. Ik vind eigenlijk zelf dat ik er nogal soepel in ben en dat ze erin mag rijden, als ik hem niet nodig heb.
Mona en haar assistente Carmen bespreken wat ze met mijn haar gaan doen. Ze bepalen dat wat highlights erin een goed idee is. Vind ik dat ook? Nou, klinkt goed, hoor. Tot ik de rekening na afloop zie. Die vijf minuten dat Mona bezig was met highlights in mijn haar te doen, kosten me even $30!!
Nou ja, het ziet er wel heel mooi uit, hoewel ik denk dat een buitenstaander het niet eens zou zien. Mona heeft het ook wat korter geknipt, zodat er weer wat meer een echte coupe in zit. Op zich ben ik er wel erg tevreden over, maar dat er zomaar wordt aangenomen dat ik wel met die prijs akkoord zou gaan, vind ik minder. Volgende keer zal ik de prijs zeker van tevoren vragen. Eens kijken of het Rick morgen opvalt.
Saskia sms-t me of ik advocado sushi van Whole Foods voor haar mee kan brengen. Rick heeft vanavond een Windows 8 functie tot laat. Op Facebook zette hij al een Windows 8 cupcake van Georgetown Cupcake. Hij zal dus goed gevoed worden daar.
Bij het zien van die lekkere sushi besluit ik die ook als avondeten voor mezelf mee te nemen. Ze hebben nu ook zo'n lekkere rol in rijstpapier met tonijn, zalm, advocado, komkommer en wortel en pindasaus. Niet Japans volgens mij, maar wel een nieuwe favoriet. Daarbij neem ik sushi met tonijn en zalm.

Intussen hoor ik op de radio weer over allerlei schandalen. De directeur van de CIA, nota bene de hoogste generaal zo ongeveer in het land, heeft een affaire gehad en ontslag genomen, bijvoorbeeld. Ik verbaas me er iedere keer weer over hoe die hooggeplaatste mannen hun broeken niet aan kunnen houden.
Is er in Nederland of Belgie aandacht voor Arnold Schwarzenegger en zijn buitenechtelijke kind, om nog een misselijkmakend voorbeeld te noemen? Ik heb enorm met de vrouwen van deze mannen te doen. Die hebben al heel wat opgegeven voor de carrieres van hun echtgenoten en worden zo bedankt. Verwerpelijk vind ik het!
Enfin, er zijn zoveel dingen om me druk om te maken in de wereld. Allemaal dingen, die ik niet onder controle heb of kan krijgen, dus ik probeer ze maar te laten gaan. En hoe beter dan met een spinnende Meike in mijn nek en een slapende Cosmo aan mijn voeten.

Rick komt thuis met een paar overgebleven Georgetown Cupcakes. Cream cheese frosting en red velvet, eigenlijk vrijwel de enige combinatie, die ik lekker vind (ok, ik vind wortelcake ook wel te pruimen). Het is in ieder geval een zeer smakelijk einde van de dag!

Heb je wel alle dagen gelezen maar me geen tijd gegunt om te reageren. Heerlijke dagen gehad. Schandalig he dat ze bij de kapper zomaar bepalen doen er even high lights in en reken er $30,- voor zonder overleg of te melden. Je bent vaste klant he dus je komt toch terug. Ze hoeven zich niet meer voor je te winnen.
Wat ligt het hotel op een superlocatie. Ik kan iedereen aanraden om in deze omgeving te zitten. Zeker ook in de avond nog wat winkeltjes en genoeg restaurants in de buurt. Je kan nog even lekker lopen en zit niet op de kamer.
Wat een schatje zijn Cosmo en Flapjack. Stitch is de afgelopen dagen bij mijn schoonouders geweest en hij accepteert hun kat Sheba, maar is toch vooral een strijd tussen hun 2. En de kat is de baas drijft hem in een hoek, en zit ie te piepen kan en durft en dan niet langs. Moeten mijn schoonouders de kat weg jagen. Als ze alleen thuis blijven zit de kat met bak en alles in huiskamer en Stitch in gang en slaapkamer. Dus gescheiden van elkaar.

Ik zou me enorm genomen voelen als iemand voor 5 minuten extra werk o veel zou vragen zónder vooraf even te overleggen. Die Mona komt uit al je vragen redelijkbrutaal en greedy over, alsof je een makkelijke melkkoe voor haar bent. En dat terwijl je in het verleden haar een dienst bewees door foto's te maken van haar zaak.
Highlights vind ik vaak wel mooi hoor bij geverfd haar. Zeker als je donker haar hebt met een rode gloed kan het vaak zo'n enorme massa zijn omdat het allemaal één kleur heeft. Dat vind ik vaak onnatuurlijk overkomen, je ziet dan zo overduidelijk dat het haar geverfd is (ook bij mannen die hun haar verven, echt geen gezicht). Het is namelijk normaal dat de zon ervoor zorgt dat er verschillende kleurschakeringen in je haar aanwezig zijn. Als je het dan donker laat verven dan 'wordt het al snel zo'n enorme massa van één en dezaelfde kleur boven op je hoofd.
Groot gelijk dat je grenzen neerlegt voor je vangebruik. Het is niet verkeerd dat tieners leren dat het leven ook leuk kan zijn als je niet dagelijks een auto te leen krijgt van je ouders.Zo blijft er nog wat te wensen over leert men dat niet alles vanzelfsprekend is. Maar hebben haar vriendinnetjes nog geen rijbewijs dan?
P.S. Ik vergat te zeggen dat je highlights volgens mij erg gemakkelijk zelf kunt aanbrengen. Of misschien kan Saskia het even voor je doen?

Kappers, ik vind ze behoorlijk duur geworden. Laatst moest ik voor het bijpunten van mijn 2-jarige dochter 14 euro betalen. Zo lang waren ze niet met haar bezig en ze was ook niet vervelend, wat ook extra tijd zou kosten en ik werd tegelijkertijd ook geknipt.
Het nieuws over Arnie is mij ontgaan, ik volg het niet zo. Als de loodgieter zo iets zou doen, stond het ook niet in de krant.
Dat is snel verdiend voor Mona. Tegenwoordig vraag ik altijd naar de kosten, scheelt na afloop het ongeloof.
Arnold is niet zo'n hot item maar die CIA man stond wel in de krant. Ik verbaas me er ook altijd weer over. Net als die viezerikken die zo nodig aan kinderen moeten zitten. BAH!
Ik zeg altijd, hak het af als het in de weg zit.

Ja, vind ik ook veel, 30 dollar voor 5 minuten werk, maar het ziet er vast prachtig uit.
Hier voorzie ik ook drama's met de auto als Vic in december zijn rijbewijs krijgt. Graag zou hij een auto krijgen (voor zijn verjaardag bv, haha), maar totdat Steven een nieuwe krijgt (koopt), zal hij die van mij moeten lenen. In het weekend geen probleem, maar door de week heb ik hem zelf nodig overdag. We zullen zien hoe dat gaat.
Hier verdragen de katten en Mia elkaar ook goed, Mia eet als ze de kans krijgt graag mee uit de bak van de katten, we noemen haar dan ook wel 'catdog'.

Wat betreft Arnold's vrouw, daar heb ik geen medelijden mee hoor. Misschien is het omdat wij hier dichterbij het vuur zitten dat we er meer van weten?
Voordat Arnold zich verkiesbaar stelde als governor had hij al heel wat affaires. Er was toen al sprake van een scheiding en ze leefden in feite niet meer bij elkaar. Als ik het wel heb had Maria zelf ook iemand anders. Maar toen Arnold besloot zich verkiesbaar te stellen en Maria de Kennedy is die ze is besloot de affaires de affaires te laten en zag een politieke toekomst als First Lady of California wel zitten. Dat Arnold een vos is die niet z'n streken verliest was iets wat echt wel bekend was bij haar. Maar bij de Kenedy clan gaat een politieke functie boven alles, zelfs boven zelfrespect. Nee, ik heb absoluut geen medelijden met haar, ze koos voor een leven in 'the public eye', ipv hem aan te kant te gooien en met een opgeheven hoofd haar leven bij elkaar te rapen en opnieuw te beginnen. En nu ach en wee in de media klagen, eigen schuld dikke bult denk ik. Ze verkocht haar integriteit voor die functie. Ze doet nu net voorkomen alsof ze niets wist over de affaires, terwijl vrijwel iedereen in Califonia al voor de eerste verkiezingen wist dat ze over scheiding praten.

Toevallig had ik pas dezelfde ervaring!
Ik had ook bij mijn laatste kappersbeurt, een maand geleden, highlights laten zetten, omdat het een aanbieding was. Ik had dit nooit eerder laten doen en ging er van uit dat het hooguit 10 euro zou kosten.
Thuis zag ik op de kassabon dat het me 20 euro kostte en het was nog een aanbieding ook. Normaal is het dus nog duurder.
Ik heb er van niemand nog een opmerking over gehoord, dus het valt nog niet eens op.

Hier worden de affaires van alle hoog (en niet zo hoog) geplaatste mensen breed uitgemeten in de pers. Ik snap ook niet dat iedereen er zo maar mee weg komt. Of ze komen er niet mee weg en vinden het dan heel erg nodig om hun verhaal alsnog publiek te maken.
